A letter from my buddy re: Bay to Breakers
To Whom it May Concern:
I find it appalling that after so many years of self-governance and jollity that ING and its partners would decide to deflate a great San Francisco event and institution. A zero tolerance policy? No wheeled vehicles of any type? Do you have any idea why people love B2B? Or why ESPN dubbed this one of the “101 things all sports fans must experience before they die?” It’s not because of the fierce competition, emphasis on fitness or wonderful scenery. It’s because of the fact that the entire city lets her collective hair down and engages in an event that amounts to an annual parade celebrating the joy of being a San Franciscan. While I would expect such draconian nonsense in a place like Orange County, I find it strangely out of place in my beloved city. After eight straight years of attendance, I plan to stay away this year. I hope you are happy to alienate a good portion of the population that loved and honored this event.
Sincerely,
Another Disgruntled SF Resident
